August 14th
Calvin Allen from Boise, Idaho, riding for BODE Cycling, became the first ever
winner of The Cycling Classic yesterday with a fabulous display of strength and
determination. Allen initiated the first break of the day on lap number one and
never looked back. After slowly dropping his break companions one by one along
the 91-mile race route, Allen rolled down 13th Street in Hyde Park with arms
held high and hundreds of fans loudly cheering him on. Justin Rose (ICE) and
Matt Weyen (Hyde Park Cycle Sports Elite) came across 3-minutes and change down
in second and third places respectively. Oh yeh... Allen also claimed the KOM
Jersey on the day, just for good measure. Complete results are available at www.spondoro.com.
